Please post up your ideas for things you would like to see at the meetings. So far our schedule is still soft. If there was something that you wished we would have done and we didn't please share those ideas here. I would like to get some folks to present that haven't before.

Hey Chad,
How about maybe a Largemouth bass presentation !! I know we are doing some monthly bass tourney's this year and I think I have read that there are alot of folks that have little to no knowledge of bass fishing. You know maybe baits of choice for different times of year and typical patterns of where to find bass based on the time of year like in march during fish the NW side of a lake cause the water temps will be warmer due to it having the most sunlight, Silver buddies in the winter, pre-spawn tactics, summer time patterns(morning topwater, deep dropping with drop shot, carolina rigging) fall patterns ( cranks, spinnerbaits etc.) and maybe the best tackle, rod , reel for each application like 6'6" or 7'0" MH for worms, jigs, or M action for cranks, buzz, and 7'0 for flipping jigs, c-rig and a nice 2500 on a 6'6" for throwin finesse on slider heads or pegged texas rig. You get the idea. Maybe useful for alot of members that havent experienced bass fishing . Just an idea

Damn brother, I think you gave the seminar. So, are you available to do a largemouth bass tips and techniques presentation?

I dont have a problem with helping out and telling what I know and bringing equipment and rigging techniques. Although you can talk about bass fishing tactics, tech, for hours on end. I would suggest what other ideas are out there from other members and who would actually want to hear anything about bass fishing first, there might not be that much interest within the club for those that show up for the meetings. I think the bass lecture is a great idea, and completely agree with you that it may be a topic too large for a 1-2 hour meeting. However, if we were to break up the topic into a freshwater series 45mins-1 hour (including walleye, pickerel, bowfin, etc…) it may be more manageable and capture more interest.

Since bass fishing as a topic can be huge, how about if we concentrate on what's coming up next - the spawn? Some folks have issue with targeting beds as unfair, but putting that aside (let each decide for himself what is ethical) you definitely fish the spawn different than you do in, say, mid-summer. So, maybe the topic could just be early spring.

How about more HOW TO's?
Someone mentioned reel maintenance last year. I liked the light tackle 'how-to' y'all did. Maybe knot tying (should be an adventure)? 2005 WS Tarpon 160. DFKAA, BTPC, IDGAF |

Aaron's suggestions for the "bass class" sound good. Yes is may be more than one meetings topics, but, it will offer a good alternative in windy weather when its too rough to hit the salt water.
Aaron, sounds as if I need to do some fresh water fishing with you!

Rollin,
Any time just give me a call you should have my number still. Since you are in Gloucester go to Beaver Dam and fish the 606 split!! Look at the lake on a map and its the most NW part of the lake, its a long cove that is where you will find the warmest water . Ive done really well in there in mid Feb last year I had an 18lb best 5 fish stringer . Use a black/blue jig (i use a stanley pro rattle in 3/8oz and uncle josh blue pork trailer) I like the pork instead of the zoom plastic chunks it give the jig more action in colder water.Throw it at the standing timber right around the base and they usually hit on the fall or the first bump of your rod. If that doesnt work then find the creek channel its almost in the middle of the cove and work a silver buddy along the edges. If that fails then fish the ranger station cove and line your yak up with the 2nd window on the special outing building and the big osprey nest and there is a hum that runs the lenght of the cove and work the silver buddy there as well.

I get mine from bass pro, i think walmart carries them and im sure oceans east 2 has them. you can use any jig you want i just have been using that one for a while it has a good hook, boo-yah jigs are pretty good, there are hundreds of them that are about the same i just favor the rattle jigs personally but others will probally have different ones they like. More importantly its the presentation and throwing them in the right places!!

Aaron,
When you are talking about working a silver buddy along the edges. What kind of a lure is the silver buddy?

Bump.
We need your ideas! If you are new to kayak fishing, been around a while, looking for how to rig, fish, specific lures to target fish, safety, locations, whatever. What topics are you interested in?
Post up.

How about a Cobia clinic? What else is next in the hot fish schedule along this great fish highway we live next to?? I'd also like to learn more about specific techniques for various lures. Anything that helps me become a better fisherman would be great! Ocean Kayak Cabo Tandem Blue 16.3 |

Ohh Kay.... How about a "How To" on fishing for Stripers at Kiptopeke and/or Drum (Red and/or Black) at Fishermans Island (the shoals)? Topic to include appropriate tackle, bait/lures, presentation, SAFETY, and whatever you want to throw in for the novice / first timer.
Maybe even a "How To" on Tog and/or Sheephead?
Just throwin it out there because you asked me to. |

How about a flipping your kayak and getting back in demo on the water. Also a cold weather fishing class might be interesting (talking about safety issues and what to wear when fishing in cold weather conditions).
