7/11 Notes
Modified By ltangler on 7/14/2007 12:25:47 PM)

We had a board meeting at the OVP on 7/11 and discussed several items.

We discussed this year's tournament and decided to keep it as close to last years format as we could.  It will be an individual only tournament, no teams.  There will be no fly fishing division but you can fish with fly tackle but you will be competing with the rest of the anglers.  We are trying to obtain another kayak to give away so we will have a total of 4.  Cory has posted the letter that can be sent to potential sponsors for prizes.  Cory please fill in the other details about the tournament.

We have 3 committees that were formed and they are:

Tournament, Cory Routh (ruthless) is the chairman.

Safety, Vic Sorenson (QajaqVic) is the chairman.

Events, Jason Seiders (Grommet) is the chairman.

We had several individuals speak up and say they wanted to help but didn't know who to contact so if you are interested in helping please get with a committee chairman and offer your assistance.  The biggest thing we have going right now is the tournament and we need to focus our attention on getting everything in place for it.

Re: 7/11 Notes
Dave, are we still looking at the changes to the webboard that we discussed?

Re: 7/11 Notes
Jason, changes as in to access the fishing reports you have to be a member, yes I think it is a good idea.

The main reason I became a member is because after hearing about TKAA from a number of members I decided to check out the website.  Through the website I was able to arrange to go fishing with a couple of members and THOSE experiences convinced me to go to a meeting and pay bills.  I don't know if this story is unique, but I think you might be huring your exposure if you make the going fishing page inaccessible to the general audience.  Just a thought.  Craig

Re: 7/11 Notes

Craig--

Understood, but there are those who don't own a kayak, who come and read the reports and then take their stinkpots out to those locations. If I understand things correctly, going fishing will still be public, which will still aloow non-members and members to hook up and go fishing--I agree that's important.

Re: 7/11 Notes

Craig,

It isn't the going fishing page but the fishing report page that we are considering making only accessible to club members.

That works.  Seems to me you guys have got a good thing going and I am willing to bet there are many like me who would appreciate the opportunity to be turned on to all the great kayak fishing opportunities.
