Anchor Line Float?

Anybody know where I can find a float for my anchor line.  The little tiny float my anchor came with tends to sink when in fast current or when using a lot of anchor line.  I was thinking a crab pot float would work nicely.

Cheers,

Chris

Re: Anchor Line Float?

Appropriately sized piece of pool noodle?  Half a crab pot float?  I've picked up a couple, or several crab pot floats.  Haven't cut any up yet.  But figured about half of one would do the trick. Fast current might dictate coming back at somewhat slack tide..

Re: Anchor Line Float?

You can also down size the thickness of your anchor line and that will cause it to have less resistance in the water. Then, you will not need as big of a float. I use small line and the anchor bouys that they sell over at Wallaces in Grandview.

Kevin, that's exactly what I was thinking about.  Where did you find that at? or do you have any idea where one could be bought at?

i got it at one of the tackle shops, i think the old light house, any that sell crab pots should have them. i put reflective tape on. i lost one one time after dark at the shoals. you might be able to 'pick one up'. look around ov beach or the hrbt island.

the clip is one of those metal stringer clips.  i try to keep the bouy close to the boat with alot of line out so it dosent effect the anchor set. and i face the blunt end into the current so its not easly buried by the current, keeping it way up on the rope helps to.

Re: Anchor Line Float?

Kevin,

Was looking at the photo of your bow, what is that wrapped around the bow that your anchor line is attached to?  Just curious as I'm looking for something more sturdy than running it through the handle of my Prowler.  Thanks.

Re: Anchor Line Float?

FYI,

Wilcox's in Newport News sells crab pot floats for $5.  They also have quite an assortment of fluorescent tapes (this stuff is expensive to say the least).
