Since we have a lull in legal flounder I was thinking of doing some trolling for Spanish using my kayak and was wondering if anyone has tried with any success. I'd actually be interested in hearing about any experinaces you've had on way or the other.

I'm was thinking of using clark spoons with a 2 OZ in line sinker with 5 feet of 30 lb floro. Think this might work?

if you can get to the va beach ocean front before sunrise, there all over the place.  use a white gotcha plug.  dont worry about trolling, just look for schools jumping...if you cant see them feeding you probably wont catch them blind casting....around the rocks by rudee is a good start then head down croatan.

What I was trying to say  is that I don't think you HAVE to troll at 6 knots, especially if it is early or late.  Clark spoons are the standard for Spanish trolling.  You can't cast that off the beach so hence the StingSilver aka painted lead sinker.  A Gotch plug aka metal pipe with hooks can be cast off the beach as well.  If it was me I would just troll the same type stuff I do for striper and trout with some kind of spoon to go with it.

You could try putting out some planers too.
