What a crappy report I wrote. Let me fine tune that some.
I wasn't going fishing at all after a busy Saturday, but the wife relented --sort of--and I ran with it. I headed into Lynnhaven looking for a new flat a buddy told me about. But I got to talking at the bait shop, it got late, I felt rushed at the ramp, and left my map in the truck. But I figured I could find it. Took the current back and saw a lot of fishy-looking real estate, some nice houses I hadn't paid attention to before, missed my cove and went waaaaay back. Plenty of bait in the water. Saw schools of 20-30" reds just at the line where you lost visibility and a couple of dogfish/small sharks on the surface. Tide turned and the plan was to float with it and fish my way out, but because I was so far back, I again felt rushed and paddled most of it . The wind messed with me at times, too. I threw two different colors of magics, the .38 special, a Capt. Micks....well, the whole tacklebox, really. Nothing. But it was delivery--feeling that I had to get where I was going, then get back to the launch. The fish were there. I just never really worked any of the areas as hard as I should have, just dabbled some as I was moving, and when the knuckles quit, I moved on.
Google Earth says I paddled 10.66 miles, and I never got where I was going.
