Back River

Launched at Messick SUN a.m. before daylight headed for the old pier toward the mouth of Back River.  Fished the pier pillings and went on around Plumbtree point and fished the sod banks throwing mirror lures, RF magic and soft plastics suspended under cork.  No trout.  Water gin clear again, very little visible life in the water.  I did pick up two dink stripers.  Also saw a handful of 30"+ plus stripers in a gill net on plumb tree point.  Went over to factory point and caught  a couple of 18" stripers before heading back in aroung 11:00.  I am guessing the specks have left the 3' to 4' waters around the shoreline and are heading out deeper by now?

Re: Back River

I fished the pilings on Saturday...could not believe how clear the water was.  In 3-4 feet of water, you could see quite well for about 10 feet all around the yak.  I kept thinking I was gonna run into a school of big somethings and I could sight cast to them.  Yup, that's what I was thinking and that's about all I did.  Not only did I not see any, I didn't mark any on the depth finder...heck, I didn't even see any bait.

Nice day to be out, but the fish were nowhere around me. (which is how it usually is when I come up there. )

Re: Back River

I sliped over to Back River for a little while saturday evening. I seen alot of bait fish. I seen a school of about 10 nice size fish near the channel shot by the kayak. I don't know what they where. I didn't get no bites but enjoyed being out on the water. The water was really clear.
