I was determined to fish last night since I can't go until next week due to family obligations. I sat in traffic for OVER 2 HOURS coming back from the beach from a meeting and didn't get back to the office until after 6pm. I suited up there and headed over to the base of the West Norfolk bridge. It was kinda rough and I was tired and aching from my skateboard injury last weekend. So, I went back to my parents house, they live 4 doors down from me and across the river from Ports. city park. I launched there and the wind died down to nothing and the river was glass. I fished the first dock light and picked up my 2 keeper stripers right away and a couple nice white perch. Then I headed for another dock light where I got some more rockfish up to 23". Then I fished the Churchland bridge at the end of the incoming and it was nonstop rockfish catching up to 23", mostly keeper size fish, and some more white perch. That lasted about an hour until the current died and then not a bite. I headed back to the first dock light I was fishing and picked up more rockfish and more white perch. I was using a 1/4 oz jighead with smoke sparkle 4" grub. The hook was pretty big, with all the hits I was getting, I probably could have caught 100 perch if I'd had something with a smaller hook. I'm ready for some fried perch nuggets!
