That's right in the middle of when the fish are blitzing beaches around here-- I will check with others - what is running down there at this time--Redfish? In the meanwhile our tourney is in 3 weeks -- guys are catching 30-35# stripers regularly around here -gotta a couple spots left for out of towners-- 125-130 guys--- 20 or so from NY/NJ/PA Guy who come the farthest gets a lobster dinner :) www.nekf.com

Re: I'll see if some New England guys will come down

Hey Joe--

For the tournament, we're looking for total combined inches of a redfish, a speckled/spotted trout, and flounder. Stripers are the wildcard. There's a ton of winnings to be had.

In general all those species should be pretty hot, with reds and flounder just starting to wane and striper just starting to really show (aside from the residents we have here).

If you wanna escape those cold NE winters (hey, I was from PA once) you oughta come down here for some striper in Dec-Jan. Your blitzing fish make life interesting down south about that time. A 73lber was caught by a boater last year and we had two kayakers land 52 and 54 lbers in the same day I think.

Thanks for swinging by!!

The only way we could do this, and two of us are interested, would be to drive down Friday. We would fish Saturday and head out Sunday. We would have no time for pre-fishing or learning the area. We will be coming from Central New Hampshire, about a 12 hour drive. Next year I would like to be able to spend a few days.

Do you think anyone would be able or willing to spend a little time with us at the captains meeting and point out a decent launch site on a map and possibly discuss what we might be able to throw at the fish. We aren't looking for anyone to give up their spots. Neither of us have ever been in your area but have fished with some of you at Jamaica Bay.              Roger

Done.

Ask for me at the Captain's Meeting and I'll give you some options.

Edit: Actually, check your email.

OK, you asked for it........there are two of us, Mark A and myself, registered and have room reservations. There's no turning back now. Looking forward to learning  some new tricks and meeting some new partners in this crazy sport.

Re: I'll see if some New England guys will come down

Roger-

Glad to have you guys coming down.  If you will check the tournament page, at the top are several links, one of which is launch sites.  There are tons of places to go around here and I'm sure some folks will be more than happy to tell you where to launch, but probably won't share and "secret" holes (as if there are any anymore)

Many people fish on what we call the southside in Lynhaven or Rudee inlets.  Some may fish the Hampton Roads Brigdge Tunnel (depending on conditions) and several winning fish were caught last year north of their in the Back River area.

Good luck and have a safe trip.
