Re: Food for thought

After graduating from the Naval Academy in 1958, John McCain served our country in the United States Navy until 1981.  Sorry that he didn't have the time to go to Harvard.  While Obama was being educated about politics and how the world works, McCain was living it.

Re: Food for thought

Ethics, Honor, Commitment, Loyalty...not classes taught at Harvard. McCain may have been 894 of 899, but he went on to earn the respect of everyone that ever wore a uniform; military, police, firefighter; domestic and foregin. I've only met one lawyer that I respected, he died dirt poor because he wouldn't defend the guilty. 143 days in the Senate does not make a leader. Hell, look at the Honorable Senator from Massacuhutes, he's been there since the signing of the Declaration of Independance and still can't spell leadership. Obama has raised money campaign $$$ than any candidate in history. Who do you think made those contributions? If he is elected the debt will be paid in Cabinet positions and favoritism to the biggest contributors, just like any past President.

Re: Food for thought

You guys are fooling yourselves if you think either one of the two major candidates will be any different from the other.  Despite some assertions to the contrary they will each bankrupt our nation and continue the same BS we've now seen for decades.

I'm sure they are both good men in their own right but they both suck as presidential candidates.  I'll be voting for none of the above.

I deleted what I had written because of my deep-founded belief that fishing and politics shouldn't mix, but I'm generally, I'm with Trev.

True enough.  Not on this board anyway.  Some people get a little too wrapped up in their political beliefs and feelings are too easily hurt.  Besides, my opinion is the only one that matters.

Re: Food for thought

You should vote for Kiko, Dylan's Eastern Box Turtle. He has my vote! No way he'll put us $700 billion (read: $1.7 trillion) further in debt!

Re: Food for thought

He flew helicopters in ODS. Sadly, instaed of womanizing he took flight school seriously, was never shot down, and thereby committed political suicide.

His "Lettuce and Water" financial doctine assures me he won't be the one to get us $700 billion (read: $1.7 trillion) further in debt.

Hmmmm lettuce and water doctrine.  I like it.  Do you think Kiko would make me secretary of defense?  I'd like to dismantle the pentagon.

Being aturtle, he's big on defense, but offense? Not so much. If you give him cut-up apple, he'll pretty much let you do what you please.

Re: Food for thought

I agree with Trevor except I do think McCain is a man of good moral character who will do what he thinks is right.  That being said, I don't agree with what he thinks is right so I won't vote for him.  Obama, don't know what to think about him, not much  there.  Bright side is anything is better than Bush!

Re: Food for thought

There is a fine point when looking at McK's class rank -- when you get that far down, there is a race to be last!  Naval Academy tradition has it that the "anchor man" receives a silver dollar from each of his class mates.  It is a tradition that survives today, and the competition can be fierce.  The problem is if you are not quite successful you have either a rotten class rank, or worse don't graduate.  On the bright side -- you make about $1000 for being a crummy student if you win.

I think Trevor has it about right -- except I would like to hear more about Kiko the turtle!!?  Think we can get him to run?

See you tomorrow night -- and although I am not the best fisherman, I hope not to be the anchor man!

Re: Food for thought

If we start now we might be able to get Kiko enough support in a write in campaign.  I have a gold fish that would be a good VP choice.  His name is Arthur.  He's a supply sider though.

Kiko and Arthur 08.  "Cold blooded reformers."

Ever heard of an educated idiot? You can have all the schooling in the world but if you don't have common sense where are you? A degree in political science. dosen't make you a better person. It makes you a politician. I'd rather have a person of character; Someone the world will respect.

I agree 100%. I am forever thankful for the sacrifice Sen. McCain has given to his country. I have the same adoration for him as I do my grandfather and the 1000s of servicemen that stormed the beaches of Guam to liberate my island from Japanese occupation. I give him the same adoration I give my family who has served and continue to serve with experienced casualties in that God forsaken desert and rocky craphole.

All that being said; it would be wrong (in my humble opinion) to discredit or to imply that someone, who is more academically inclined is less honorable because he or she has chosen a different path to serve our country.

Respectfully Submitted
