Hobie Sport Reviews?

I'll be buying the Sport soon. I tried it out yesterday at the ACK Demo Days in Austin, TX. Mostly to see if it would hold my weight. It did.  I tried the Outback also but still liked the Sport better. I'll be taking the Sport in Twon Lake for the day next weekend for more of a test drive.

I'm asking TKAA members if they know of any negative reviews concerning the Sport? I figure some issues may have been addressed like the seat inserts cracking. Thanks in advance for any reports, personal or public.

Re: Hobie Sport Reviews?

Good Day at1,

On this site I don't think there are any/many posts re the Sport. It isn't a popular boat here, but if you were to go to KayakFishingStuff.com and search for "Hobie Sport" you would find a plethora of positive reports. "Apalach" and "DrWilki" art two posters who come to mind.

Enjoy your boat. I had the Outback 05 model and now have the Revolution. Love my Revo!

Re: Hobie Sport Reviews?

After paddeling the other kayaks we have I purchased the Hobie Mirage Sport.  It's the best boat ever.  However it is a wet boat.  My seat stays wet prettymuch all the time.  We have not checked to see if there is a leak.  That's the only drawback I have found.  It's comfortable to fish from.  I like the storage trays on the sides.  Good storage wells.  Peddeling it is great.   Just make sure you choose one that is big enough for you.

Re: Hobie Sport Reviews?

Being on a kayak is inherently a wet place to be. Putting plugs in the scuppers should alleviate the seat wetness on smoothe water but not allow any drainage if you get water over the sides. On my Revo with all the stuff in the crate and me there is always a bit of water in the seat area. A "Crak of Dawn" cush for the tush keeps me above most of it and helps with long term seating comfort. BTW how much do you weigh?
