New Park/Kayak only launch
Modified By Jake Martin on 11/8/2008 7:24:16 PM)

Good news, there is a new park scheduled to open next month in hampton.  It is called the River Street park and it is located under I-64 on Pembroke Ave. It  will have a floating dock to launch kayaks and canoes and is located on the Hampton river.  Read more here www.dailypress.com/news/local/hampton/dp-local_pasturepoint_1107nov07,0,668394.story

The grand opening of the park may be a good opportunity to show the community what the TKAA has to offer and to show our thanks to the city for providing a kayak launch area.  If fellow members approve, I'll try to find out when the grand opening will occur and if the TKAA can assist.    I had the chance to talk to the city manager and former mayor when banning kayaking at buckroe was on the city's agenda and from their actions they have supported kayaking .  Let me know if this is something members would like to pursue.

Re: New Park/Kayak only launch

I just wish it was going to be 24 hours, but with its location I imagine they pictured problems after sunset. Sad you cant find a legal place to park after 10 pm for a walk on the beach anymore.
