yes, sometimes. fish the lights under the docks.
Best action I found regularly is go up to rich mans cove. take the right side all the way to the back.
there is always something that will bite back there....though often it is bluefish. Will Yak for food. |

I'm waiting for Russ to chime in here... he's got it dialed in back there.
I have done best at flood tide back in Rich Man's cove, I have a few good nights on the left side... go all the way back, reverse the kayak into the grass and start pluggin' away... i've caught mostly pups and blues... but also trout, and big spot on gulp. As the tide falls, move to the mouth of the inlet, and fish the light on the marina sign along the wall... same results there... pups feed on the bottom under the chaos of the blues, and the trout stick to the outsides and pick off baits sitting about a foot or two down in the water column. I have had these feeding fest conditions twice this year in late spring... bait of choice is 1/4oz. red jighead w/ a 4in. smoke grub... and a red/white suspending mirrolure (sorry forgot the number... the 'trout' one)
I have caught tons of trout, blues, pups, and schoolie stripers near bridge fishing from the rocks. |

Rockstar, Thanks for the info, nightime is the best time to fish for me. When you say rich mans cove , your refering to the area of the inlet that branches off to the right just before the jetties right? and when you go back in there it forks left and right? When I had the bay boat I went back in there once and caught 3 nice specks early in the morning. This was in late october though. Now that I think back there was alot of docks with good lights. I realy apprecite the help on this. Maybe I'll see you out there.

Once Fall kicks into gear i'll be out there a lot more hunting specks.. keep in touch, I do a lot of fishing during odd hours due to my work schedule... always good to have company to share the stoke with when the fishing is hot. Cosign has some good info on the other spot... with a fish finder you should be able to find the hole on that side... I personally have never done good there, but I have seen some pretttty nice fish pulled out of there. |

Hi inshoremac. hey there Rockstar. Yep its me finally chiming in. Been laying low for awhile over in Lynnhaven (at night of course) getting my share of Puppy Drum. I have always fished at night (best time to fish). I usually head back to Rich Mans Cove and bag these nice Specks back in that area. Russ

There are some mean a$$ bluefish by the police docks. Went Sunday night caught a 3-4lber and tried THE FISH GRIP on it but before I could get it to open its mouth it bite my right hand and left preaty good teeth marks in my fingers. The bluefish was snickering at me so once I got him unhooked he went back in and I was left to apply first aid to my hand. |

That is an issue with those FISH GRIPs. It's harder to squeeze in a tightly closed mouth. If that fish bit me, I think I'd taken him home for dinner! Ocean Kayak Cabo Tandem Blue 16.3 |

You need to trry these grippers. Managed to get one from Chad for product review and these things really work well. Easier to grip the fish, light and they float. Great idea. "12 ft. Manta Ray-- 55 yr old engine" Tarpon 120, Pungo Classic, MEMBER TKAA BOTTOM 10 CLUB |

Rick that is the kind I was using, Chad gave me a pair also. The blue fish just would not open up to allow me to slid it in....as soon as my right hand got close he lunged forward and chomped down...lol. I figured any fish that can get the best of me deservers to go free. The only thing I use blue fish for is bait and garden food. The really start the garden off in the spring... |

| Nice meeting you also Andy. Work sucked, turned out to be a 11 hour work day for me. I was bushed after paddling all night then go to work.....sheesh. Well went back out with a friend from work last night (Wednesday), we landed a total of six pups in about 30 minutes. I sent the 27 1/2 incher back, and took home three and my friend took home two. I think I got him hook on yak fishing. Prowler 15, 59 year old engine with strong arm steering. |
