New Kayaker/HRBT

Hello,  I just started Kayak fishing and wanted to know who likes to fish the HRBT. I used to fish there quite a bit when I had the boat, mostly at night because that kinda fits into the family's schedule a little better. I'd like to hook up with some folks who regulary fish it at night and need a buddy to go along.  Ive used the yak twice since I got it lask week, both times at Rudee, just to get a feel for it, and now I wish I would have got one years ago!  Did pretty good for first time out, got one small Pup and a flounder on jigs, (at least not skunked), took it out the second time last night, didn't cath a thing, but spent most of the time practicing paddling. I did meet Ruthless at the ramp before I launched and he gave a couple good tips. So I plan on joining the club and getting to know everyone. I know my wife would feel alot better if I was with someone than by myself, that scared her enough when I'd do it in the 17 foot bay boat.

Hope to see you guy/gals on the water.

Re: New Kayaker/HRBT

Welcome aboard.  I like to fish the HRBT but not much going on there right now.  As soon as it gets a little cooler you will see post after post of guys going out there and you can join them.

Re: New Kayaker/HRBT

When the fish are there, everyone likes to fish the HRBT and CBBT.  Glad to see you are enjoying our addiction.  It's a blast in the yak and the fuel is pretty cheap.  As stated above, you'll see lots of posts for folks heading out when it gets a little cooler.

Welcome.

Re: New Kayaker/HRBT

Seeknfin,

Thanks for the invite, i will definatly like to take you up on it. I.m up for other areas too, when I had the boat we fished Lynnhaven a few times and the CBBT. Also used to fish the Hampton side of the HRBT too. I liked it over there cus there wasn't much traffic and  it was mostly shelterd. When do you normaly go out?

Thanks again, Scott   613-1349

Re: New Kayaker/HRBT

Rockstar,

What do you think the best method for the flatties is, and do you guys catch them at night also. Id like to target other fish besides stripers. Don't get me wrong, I like to catch them, and have been out there untill 3-4 am with non stop action (felt like my arm was going to fall off) Was a great time, id just like to catch more flounder, grays, specks and redfish.

Thanks Scott

Re: New Kayaker/HRBT

I was there on sunday and drifted under the two bridges.  I used a bottom rig and live minnows.  They started biting when the tide started to go back out.  I caught about 12.  One 20.5" and two 18".

Jake
