Re: transducer mount in a ws ride
Good question.  I have mine mounted right in the middle.  I don't have perfect arches though.  Ray and Chad, how did you all mount yours?

Re: transducer mount in a ws ride
I also rigged mine in the middle between to right in front of the foot wells.  I tried Chads white foam method but i could not get the foam low enough to stop the Lexal from leaking.  I cut up one of those disposable food containers so it fit, then taped it all together with a double layer of black tape on the bottom.  I filled the thing with an inch or so of Lexal then placed the transducer in and made sure it was centered and touching the bottom.  I then filled it with Lexal.  The reason you fill it with the Lexal is so it will read an accurate temperature of the water.

The equipment i used to install my transducer

Black Tape
Lexal
Scissors

It is not that hard, just think it through a few times and do it.  I can still get some pictures of the set up because i did not remove it after installation.

I use a 12V 7 amp per hour battery inside a 3500 Otterbox. for power.  I tried to use alkaline batteries but that never worked for me.

Send a note if you want pictures I should be able to post them by thursday.

Joe

Re: transducer mount in a ws ride
could you post your pictures? I'm about to install mine on my Ride and am a little confused on where this location is your speaking of. And does the lexal really help get an accurate temp reading? How? Thanks.

Hey grandpa, did ya see my pic on the new fishfinder pt 2 link? this stuff is great. MY temp might be a few degrees off since I didn't total submerge the fishfinder but its only off by 2-3 degress, close enough for me. - Jason

Re: transducer mount in a ws ride

I mounted mine just forward of the two scupper tubes by your feet and got a good set up. I used the closed cell foam for the frame and it works perfect in that area. The area is as far back as you can reach in the forward hatch.

Re: transducer mount in a ws ride

I guess you can do all that but I have always just squirted a big glob of GOOP and stuck the transducer in it.  The temp has never been more than a couple degrees off.  I've never had one come off unless I wanted it to.

Re: transducer mount in a ws ride

I just mounted a new one and this time I am using regular old 100% silicone.  I used the whole tube!  We'll see how this works.

Also, this is the battery I have been using for over 2 years now:

You can get it at Batteries Plus.  This battery will power the ff and a 12v boat light for at least 8 hours.  I plug it in and leave it on, take it home and charge it back up.  I've probably charged this thing over 100 times.
